HC Slovan Bratislava at a glance

As of the 2016/17 season, WINGAS is sponsor of the Slovakian ice hockey team HC Slovan Bratislava. Between 1998 and 2012 the club won the Slovakian championships eight times as well as the Czechoslovakian League Championships in 1979. Beginning in 1972, Slovan Bratislava also won the international Spengler Cup tournament in Davos three times in succession as well as the IIHF Continental Cup in 2004. This makes the team one of the most successful ice hockey clubs in Slovakia.

Between 1993 and 2012, HC Slovan Bratislava played in the Slovakian Extraliga. Since the 2012/13 season, the club has been playing against multinational competition in the KHL after it applied for membership during the league’s expansion. HC Slovan Bratislava is the only Slovakian club in the KHL and also the oldest ice hockey team still playing today. The number of spectators at its home games is above average and HC Slovan Bratislava is continuously in the top rankings in a European comparison.
